Pembroke Montessori

We instill a life
long love of learning
in your child

Our classrooms are designed to promote the development of emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs. The classroom is a simplified reality with which children interact.

Our teachers lead the children to ask questions, think for themselves, explore, investigate and discover. Our roles ultimate objective is to help children to learn independently and retain the curiosity, creativity and intelligence with which they were born.

DR. MARIA MONTESSORI | MONTESSORI METHOD FOUNDER

“The most important period of life is the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed.”

The Montessori Philosophy

Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was the founder of the Montessori method. Montessori discovered that children learn best when they are free to discover for themselves within the structure of the learning environment. Her philosophy is founded on the belief that children should be free to succeed and learn without restriction or criticism.

Our Montessori Curriculum

Montessori Hours:

Half Day: 8.30am – 12.30pm

Part Time: 8.30am — 2pm

Full Time: 8.30am — 6pm

The purpose of Practical Life is to help the child gain coordination of movement and independence. These exercises aid the growth and development of the child’s intellect and concentration. This in turn will help the child develop an orderly way of thinking.

Comes from the word “senses”. These materials allow the child to refine his senses. They were designed to cover every quality that can be perceived by the senses such as size, shape, composition, texture, loudness, softness, matching, weight, temperature etc.

Developing the child’s language is part of every aspect of the Montessori curriculum. With the language program, children learn how to recognise and differentiate sounds as well as to write. It all begins with the Sandpaper sounds, with which children get a visual and tactile impression of the sound.

Children are surrounded by numbers.
“How old are you?”
“We will go in 10 minutes”.
“Your birthday is the 7th of April”.

The Montessori math’s materials help the child to develop the ability to discriminate and to recognise patterns. The child uses pairing activities to recognise difference or similarities. They learn to grade in size, shape and color. The child also learns to recognise and write numerals.

This area includes the subjects geography, history, biology and science. The child has a wonderful interest in the world around them. They learn about the earth, the seven continents and people around the world. History allows the child to learn the concept of time. Biology teaches the child about the plants, animals and insects that live on our planet. Finally, science allows the child to carry out simple experiments and encourages the child to ask and learn, how?
